Fiona’s gift was a mosaic key, with a note about the spaces I have helped shape for loved ones, and a reminder to enjoy the life I have built for myself.
The key spurred notions of interiority and shifting perspectives, and most of these rings have literal interior chambers. The mosaic forms echo my own collage and sketching methodology. Each piece grows outward from the stone. Granule by granule, they are sketched by me in computerised three dimensions, and once cast, are carved, engraved and traced by my hand. The process flows like a drawing.
The pear diamond and the colour change sapphire are stones I bought for myself. Here was my chance to celebrate them and weave them into gold as an offering.
The Iridel ring conceals a cubic zirconia at the end, chosen for its refractive qualities. Lift this piece to your eye (you may need to borrow the wearer’s hand) so that the room sparkles with rainbows. A small moment of wonder and magic. These are notions I have circled for decades and can finally bring into being.

Bode Well began with a gifted deck of Minchiate Fiorentine cards from Kim, the sixteenth-century Florentine tarot. A joyous throwback to time spent trying my hand at engraving, in the city that was built on so much crafts-person-ship, the feeling of discovery and chance at every turn, with heart and hands full.
The decks suit of cups, the coppe, all chalices and urns, led me back to the vessel, a form I first explored in larger scale during earlier studies, returning now to in finer dimensions.
Certain cards became companions at the bench - the Queen who keeps, Two in mutual exchange, Temperance pouring between vessels, and Terra, where feelings ground - and have materialised into literal vessels about how we carry, keep, let go and call back the people and places we love.
A new spring has sprung, and will be trickling in to further new work in the time to come.

These jewels are shaped by rituals of gifting and by the women who taught me what they mean.
On a recent trip home to Ireland, after four long years away, I treasured the daily rituals I shared with my mum and my aunts. Sea swims, tea and cake on the beach, long walks and lots of reading filled our summer days. Over the years, we have built our own traditions of giving, from these small everyday moments to the special treats that mark an occasion, like our visits to the seaweed baths in Strandhill, Co. Sligo.
These pieces draw their form from the soft air pockets of knotted wrack, a seaweed common along Ireland’s northwestern coast. Gentle, buoyant and protective, much like the gifts that inspired them, they are made to be given and to be held. They are a tribute to the women I love, and to the care that passes between us through these small gestures.

It all starts with cats.
The first is a plastic Maneki-Neko, travel-sized for the car, its left paw raised to invite good relationships. The second is a paper-mâché Maneki-Neko in the likeness of my cat, Chino, made by the hands of Naasicaa. Its right paw is raised to attract wealth and prosperity, and the note that came with it wished me abundance in all its forms.
When ruminating on an abundant life, I focussed on the Satin Bowerbird. As an avid collector of small objects myself, I appreciate the bird’s detailed curation of blue things and the strong interior design it brings to its surroundings, along with its perfect prance when there is love on the horizon.
Making in precious materials and micro mosaic is to make with generosity of time and patience, it is laborious and fussy, but ultimately meditative. For the first time, I made a ring for myself, a little nest of gold holding a bi-colour yellow sapphire, sprinkled with diamonds and one hidden blue sapphire, in the spirit of the Bowerbird adorning his bower.

This collection began with a gift. Karla gave me a pearl shell holding four blister pearls, set by nature into the shell wall. Some are nestling in, others are caught mid-escape, all held still in time. Four, like my family. Like comets, long read as signs of wisdom and good fortune.
I’m endlessly drawn to pearls: their lustre, surfaces that ripple like the ocean, the calm they carry. For this work I turned to twin pearls, which I’d been quietly collecting for some time, unable to resist their unusual forms. Each pair grew together inside the shell without knowing it, merged yet still defined. It’s that blur between where one ends and the next begins. And there’s the patience of not knowing until the shell is opened and its gift revealed.
The comet became my guide. It’s a guiding light that crosses the night sky. In some pieces sapphires hold that depth and reflect it back, so the pearls glow against them. These are luminous forms wrapped and held, reflecting one another while each forges its own path. They speak of nurturing and growing outward, of giving, holding and balancing, and of lives that intersect and shine brighter for it.

This body of work draws from the ornate languages of Edwardian jewellery and Victorian mourning: the lustre of pearls, the delicacy of lace, and the enduring form of the crucifix. The series was born from a gift of obsidian whose concealed cross returned me to the motif as a symbol of passage and protection.
Guided by ritual, romance, adornment, and the occult symbolism of the Tarot, I developed a method of casting lace—echoing historical textiles while materialising the fragile threshold between presence and absence.
The resulting pieces act as wearable reliquaries and memento mori. Scent vessels and chainmaille hold intimate relics close to the body; a ring and brooch bear pearls as both tears and armour; a coffin plate inscribed Beloved becomes a shield of remembrance. Together they honour the departed not as finality, but as a living continuity—objects made to adorn, carry Spirit, offer protection, and bode well.

The day my Bestamore died (dad’s mother), I was carrying the silver spoon she had gifted me as a baby. As a child I was sure that it had a ruby set in its hilt, it seemed like a mythical object of luxury and protection. This object travelled through life with me and in my hand it is a link to her. As small objects often do, it holds meaning beyond its form. My four Bode Well objects are symbols of my grandparents tidings for me:
A Stone Curlew whose cries can be heard from my Pakie’s (mum’s father) home, holding a line from one of his poems—a reminder of light in dark places. —Wisdom
A crocodile recalling dice games played in the afternoon heat of my Bestafar’s (dad’s father) home, laughing at his pet “krokodille” at the back door. —Play
A small vessel made for delicate foraged flowers, for Beppe (mum’s mother) who filled her home with beautiful objects and balanced the practical with the poetic. —Beauty
A spoon for my Bestamore (dad’s mother) who reminded me to live life as a celebration and to reach for my dreams. —Intention
